Lesson 9: Jesus Calms the Storm
Sunday March 7
We'll start with Parachute Play
1. Parachute rules: up-down, ripples and waves, etc
2. Ring around the Rosie
3. Looby Lo (CD: Wee Games track 17)
4. Peas Porridge Hot, Peas Porridge Cold
5. Itsy Bitsy Spider (will involve walking across the room like "jellyfish")
6. Play: fish and ocean creatures swimming on the waves (like "popcorn")
7. Storytime: Tell the story dramatically, Jesus Calms the Storm. Add the boat!
8. "Camping" children calm down and lie down on the parachute and try to cover themselves like a blanket. Sing a quiet song: "When I am afraid I will trust in you" Psalm 56:3-4
9. We can sing Sleeping Bunny, put the parachute away.
Psalm 56: 3-4
When I am afraid, I will trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.
What can mortal man do to me?
Craftime
1. Jesus Calms the Storm story wheel
Colouring with crayons etc.
precut, pre-punch hole.
Hand out the brass fastener carefully.
2. Origami boats
children watch us speed-fold the boats (or they will be prefolded?)
Snacktime
Popcorn served on little boats.
